Lounges & Bar
At the heart of the former manse
Welcome to the Lounges at Eddrachilles
Two peaceful spacious rooms form the heart of our old manse — places to read, pause, share a drink, or simply enjoy the light moving across Badcall Bay. Each lounge has its own character, but both reflect the quiet, heritage rhythm of this Highland coastal house.
The Main Lounge (also known as The Colonel’s Lounge)
A calm, welcoming room with a sense of history.
It offers:
Two fireplaces, including a wood-burning stove at the far end
A nearby piano, often enjoyed by musically minded guests
A board-game selection with Scrabble, chess, Monopoloy, jigsaws etc
Sofas and armchairs for conversations or reading
Taste of the North dispensing Bar with over 60 malt whiskies, a range of Scottish artisan gins, aperitifs, digestifs, craft beers and non alcoholic options.
You will also find a selection of quality magazines and a wide range of reference and fiction books.
The Sun Lounge — Views, Light & Wildlife
Bright, open, and directly facing the water, the Sun Lounge is the lightest room in the house.
Here you can enjoy:
Panoramic views across Badcall Bay
A splendid telescope for watching boats, seals and the occasional dolphin
Regular sightings of Golden Eagles “hoovering” off the Hill of the Church
A relaxing place for reading, sketching, knitting, crafts or simply listening to the quiet
The perfect setting for afternoon tea
The Sun Lounge bridges the space between the Hotel building and the grounds with the coastal shore at its edge— sunlit, spacious, and close to the sea..
Complimentary Afternoon Tea
Every afternoon we serve a complimentary Highland tray with home baking from The Glebe Kitchen — often scones with jam and clotted cream, shortbread, or a seasonal baking treat.
We serve it personally in either lounge, and can accommodate dietary needs with advance notice. We’ll be happy to answer questions and help you plan your time in North West Sutherland. This is where service fades and hospitality begins.
Eddrachilles Hotel Bar
Our small bar is for residentguests and diners at The Glebe Kitchen restaurantonl and is designed to be quiet and comfortable rather than busy.
It includes:
Highland single malts, including those from the North Highlands. and each with a story
Highland, and island craft beers (bottles)
A Scottish craft gin selection
Non-alcoholic choices (surprisingly good)
Wines by the glass or bottle, chosen to complement our Glebe Kitchen dinner menus
You’re welcome to enjoy your drink in either lounge.
Final Note
Eddrachilles is known for its peaceful, reflective atmosphere. Our lounges work beautifully when enjoyed in that same spirit — warm, considerate, and unhurried. If you love quiet firesides, good conversation, reading carefully curated books, and stunning sea views, you’ll feel at home here.
