Travel by Sea to Eddrachilles

Sailing the NW Highlands and Scotland’s “hungry coast”.

Our own boat moored by Badcall pier.

The entire west c’oast of Scotland offers some of the finest sailing around the UK. However, despite routes such the “Viking Way” and a heritage of paddle steamers, puffers and fishing boats, the NW corner off the Scottish mainland is less well known.

The coast north of Lochinver is sometimes referred to as “the hungry coast” by the sailing community. There are no Sail Scotland affiliated restaurants, cafesor hotels offering easy options to come ashore for a good meal, a bar, and even a bed. .However, at Eddrachilles Hotel we are on a mission to re-establish Badcall Bay’s reputation as a safe and welcoming destination for leisure sailors passing Eddrachillis Bay,perhaps sailing to Orkney. Expect exciting announcements for 2026!.

Eddrachilles Hotel Courtesy Mooring in Badcall Bay

We currently have two private moorings in Badcall Bay and one will be available from August 2025 for use by those reserving a dinner and/or B&B at the hotel. We are hugely grateful to our neighbours Loch Duart Fish Farm for their assistance in creating these moorings.

There are also options to anchor in the natural shelter of Badcall Bay. We’re happy to give advice

For 2025 it will be a case of using the public pier at Badcall to come ashore and then walk round to the hotel. By 2026 it will be possible to come ashore directly onto the hotel’s property. .Please contact us for further details and instructions.
