General Hospitality Assistant Seasonal
In a nutshell
We're looking for one more person to join our small seasonal team at Eddrachilles, a 10-room award-winning hotel in one of Scotland's most beautiful corners.
This is proper Highland hospitality: varied, hands-on work in a close-knit team where everyone mucks in. On a typical day you might help serve breakfast, clean rooms, then work dinner service or the pot-wash. Some days you'll be doing laundry or welcoming guests with tea and home baking in the lounge.
Our aim is simple: create happy memories for guests who've travelled a long way to be here.
What you'll do most days depending on your shifts
Welcome guests on arrival, help with check-in, show them to their room and settle them in with tea, coffee and home baking
Lay tables for breakfast and dinner, take orders carefully, bring guests through to their tables for dinner, and serve food and drinks to a very good professional standard
Wash and dry crockery, glassware and cutlery, keeping pot-wash and kitchen areas clean and organised
Help with housekeeping: making beds, cleaning bathrooms and public areas
Handle laundry following our instructions – washing, drying, ironing and storing
Work through daily checklists so tasks are completed safely, on time and to standard
What you'll sometimes do
Help receive and check deliveries, and store food and supplies correctly
Assist with small maintenance or garden tasks within your capability, and flag anything that needs attention
Share ideas on how we can improve service, sustainability and accessibility – and help put good ideas into practice
How we work as a team
We're collaborative and supportive – everyone helps where needed in a small hotel
We put safety first, follow health and safety guidance, and politely challenge unsafe behaviour
We learn about our area and the wider North-West Highlands so we can give guests helpful, enthusiastic advice
What you need to bring
Essential:
Good spoken English and basic reading and writing skills to follow checklists, safety notices and record orders accurately
Basic arithmetic (reading bills, checking orders, simple cash handling)
Reliability and good timekeeping – turning up ready to work the shifts agreed
A friendly, kind and respectful manner with guests and colleagues
Willingness to move between different tasks in one day: restaurant, rooms, pot-wash, occasional outdoor work
Helpful but not essential:
Previous hospitality experience – especially in small, owner-managed hotels, chalets or similar
Experience of living or working in remote or rural communities
How to apply
Email us with a cv at info@eddrachilles.com – we're happy to arrange an informal chat first.
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and are happy to discuss adjustments to the application or interview process. Just ask.
