The team of 2025
Second Chef (Seasonal)
£43K+ pro rata
We need a Senior Chef to work alongside our Lead/Head Chef from June until late October 2025 in our small kitchen team, a key part of our award-winning hotel. Please note that the location is remote but beautiful and driving is an advantage.
We cook from fresh ingredients using classic techniques. Our food is “relaxed refined” dining, Scottish/British cuisine for guests who are predominantly on holiday or celebrating an event in their lives. We also have a growing customer base from the local community. Indulgent and delicious dishes, suitable for the travelling foodie but not pretentious nor too inventive. Breakfasts are cooked to order with a good range of quality options on the standard, vegetarian and vegan menus.
While numbers of covers are smaller than in many hotel restaurants ( a maximum of 20 for breakfast and up to 30 for dinner) the role is busy and work is at a good pace, Typically the rota pattern is 5 worked out of every 7 with split shifts.
The role includes working some solo shifts on service and in prep. and requires a wide range of well practised culinary skills including pastry, butchery, fish/shellfish preparation. Classic training an advantage. It might suit an experienced sous chef or someone with head chef experience looking for an opportunity to focus on cooking rather than costings and paperwork. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the menu planning.
We offer a good rate of pay, a 40-45 hour week, free accommodation, staff food on and off duty, share of tips, and end of season bonus.
