Why Many Guests Choose to Stay Longer at Eddrachilles

A Different Rhythm of Travel

Some journeys are best taken slowly.

Over the years we have noticed that guests who stay with us for three or more nights often experience the North West Highlands very differently from those simply passing through. There is time to settle into the rhythm of the place: to watch the light shift across Badcall Bay; to explore Assynt; or visit the North Coast by Durness without checking the clock. To return from a walk in the hills knowing the afternoon baking is waiting and that dinner is already expertly being prepared. Remembering that there is a collection of over sixty malt whiskies awaiting your selection at the bar.

Beyond the One-Night Stop

Dog Walking country, lots of advice available.

Eddrachilles has never been a hotel designed for hurried travel. As the North Coast 500 has grown in popularity, we have welcomed many guests discovering this part of Scotland for the first time. Some stay for a night on their journey.. Others choose to pause here for several days, using the hotel as a peaceful base from which to explore the wider landscape, to watch birdlife, to take a boat tour along the coast or sea lochs. To spend steady time with a loyal dog who deserves a stress-free vacation too.

It is often these longer stays that guests remember most warmly.

Time for Small Discoveries

There is space for the unplanned — an unexpected beach reached by a narrow road, a conversation over breakfast about the occupants of the bird feeders outside, a wander through the ground to find seals inspecting you from the waters, or the simple pleasure of returning to a familiar armchair after a day outdoors. Even the weather, so much a part of Highland travel, becomes something to live with rather than work around.

Staying for the Experience

In recent seasons we have also found that guests are increasingly seeking value not just in price, but in experience. Staying a little longer allows a more relaxed approach to the days — and to evenings in The Glebe Kitchen, where the menu changes with the seasons and local ingredients shape what we cook. And those dinners are surprisingly good, refined Scottish comfort cooking. Combined with comfortable, cosy rooms (AA 3 Silver Stars) and a knowledgable hospitality team to look after each guest, the Eddrachilles experience invites you to linger.

For this reason, from 2026 we have chosen to reward longer stays more directly through our pricing structure. Reduced multi-night and long-stay rates are available when booking directly with us, something other hotels locally do not offer, alongside our Dinner, Bed & Breakfast options which many guests find provide the best overall value.

It is a small practical change, but one that reflects what we have long believed.

This part of the Highlands is not a place to be rushed.

If you are planning a journey to the Scottish Northwest Highlands, you may wish to explore our multi-night and Dinner, Bed & Breakfast rates when booking directly.
