Accessibility

“We want Eddrachilles to be accessible and welcoming to all. However, the hotel is in an older building and has constraints. The bedrooms in this traditional west coast building were designed primarily to be cosy rather than spacious, typically 16 meters square, and were built long before current disabled access standards were enshrined in law.

While there are four ground floor rooms with step free access no bedroom is currently equipped for full accessibility and we do not have rooms with alarms, hoists and wet rooms etc.

There is, however, step-free access to four bedrooms and all public areas on the ground floor.  Our four ground floor bedrooms can be configured as SuperKing or Twin rooms and  have been used comfortably by guests in conventional wheelchairs.

The ensuite facilities for both those with baths and showers over and walk in showers are equipped with good quality grip rails. However, the two ensuites with showers only do require a small step into an enclosed shower, they are not wet rooms.  Likewise, after several bad experiences with guests using mobility (electric) scooters in the hotel, we have had to reluctantly conclude that our hotel accommodation is not suitable for these.

Our tranquil atmosphere, gentle pace, and personalised service have been enjoyed by guests who would be uneasy in a larger hotels or louder restaurants. We are happy to make large print versions of the menu available on request or to read and explain menus, guest information, and other documentation.

Please feel free to discuss your requirements and let us know of anything we may need to address to make your stay more comfortable and enjoyable. We wish to make every guest at Eddrachilles Hotel equally welcome.

Allergies & Special Diets

We cater for vegetarians as standard on our table d’hôte menu, As we cook from fresh ingredients we can usually adapt dishes for those requiring gluten free or lactose free food. We will do our best to adapt our menus to make them suitable for any guest with other allergies, or special diets for medical or religious reasons or through personal choice. Please do not hesitate to ask about the ingredients used in any dish we serve.

However, we are in a very remote location and supplies have to be ordered well in advance. Please let us know at least a week before your arrival of any allergy or dietary/lifestyle choice that we may need to consider.

If you have a very severe allergy, e.g air-borne sensitivity, we would like to make you aware that we have a small kitchen and therefore our ability to separate completely preparation areas is constrained. We will do our very best but we cannot guarantee a completely gluten free, nut-free etc environment. We are, however, happy to provide details of the precautions and procedures we implement so that you can make an informed decision about our suitability for your needs.

Finally, if you have an allergy to dogs or cats, sadly Eddrachilles Hotel may not be the right hotel for you. We are pet friendly and guest dogs may be booked into any of our bedrooms although we try to limit the number of rooms used in any seaon.. While we clean to very high standards, we cannot offer rooms with a guarantee that a pet has not stayed there. Likewise we will not ban dogs from the upper dining room as long as they are well behaved. We seat anyone with an allergy in the lower dining room.
