Getting here
Eddrachilles Hotel sits just above the shore at Badcall Bay, in the far north-west Highlands of Scotland. The hotel is nestled between two small villages, Kylesku and Scourie.
We are remote — and we are straightforward to reach, with a little planning.
Most of our guests arrive by car, many via Inverness. Others come by air, public transport, or — occasionally — by sea. However you travel, we’re always happy to help you plan the final stages of your journey.
On the North Coast 500 — at our own pace
Eddrachilles Hotel sits approximately at the midpoint of the North Coast 500, on the north-west stretch between Ullapool and Durness. Our driveway leads directly off the A894, making arrival simple - and departure easy when you are ready to continue. .
Many of our guests include us as a two-night or longer stop within a wider NC500 journey — particularly those travelling more slowly, with an interest in landscape, walking, wildlife, classic cars, or simply staying put for a while.
We’re less suited to late arrivals, early departures, or one-night dashes between checkpoints. If your plan is to slow down and experience the north-west Highlands properly, you’ll feel very much at home here.
Choose how you’ll travel
🚗 By road
The most flexible and popular option.
Approximate drive times:
Inverness: 3½–4 hours
Ullapool: 1½ hour
The final stretch includes single-track roads with passing places — unhurried and scenic.
We offer discreet, private parking on site.

✈️ By air
Inverness Airport is the most practical choice for most guests.
Direct flights from London and other UK cities
Car hire and taxi transfers available from the airport
Wick Airport is a possible alternative, though with limited services
Be aware that some booking platforms list airports by straight-line distance rather than real-world travel time — we’re happy to advise if you’d like guidance.

🚌 Public transport
Public transport is possible, but requires advance planning.
• Train services reach Inverness and Lairg
• Bus connections run to nearby villages, with limited daily services
• Taxis must be booked ahead
If you’re travelling without a car, please contact us before booking so we can help you plan realistically.

A few helpful notes
Fuel & charging: Fuel is available locally, but stations are limited — we recommend topping up earlier in your journey. EV charging is improving, but still sparse in the far north-west.
Weather: Conditions can change quickly. In winter or shoulder seasons, check forecasts and road conditions before travelling.
Late arrivals: If you expect to arrive after reception hours, just let us know — we’ll make arrangements.
